Poster spree shrouds vital information

Coimbatore, Oct 28: Spotting a clean wall in the city is virtually impossible. Be it telephone/electricity cable junction boxes, public places like railway station, bus stands, government offices, flyovers, etc., posters of all sorts are pasted all over the city.

People entrusted with such a task are struggling to find an eye-catching spot for their posters. At Lawley Road signal, the banner displayed by the City Police indicating a helpline Whatsapp number for people to register their grievances has been shrouded by posters.

Only a portion of words like "Coimbatore City Police" could be seen in the banner and all the vital information is hidden behind the poster. The Whatsapp helpline number '8190000100' was launched by City Police Commissioner Mr. A. Amalraj to address the grievances of the public.

"The walls have got thickened close to an inch as new posters are stuck on the existing ones . Despite warning "No posters" "Keep city clean", no one bothers. In a week, there are 2-3 types of posters that are glued to the walls," shares a shop- owner at Nanjappa Road.
