College student's death in CMCH sparks tension.

A college student assaulted by his friends on October 12 succumbed to injuries on Thursday ( Oct 26)  in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH). His friends are seeking a probe and the arrest of the culprits immediately.



The deceased was Ranjith Kumar (22) son of Gunasekaran, a resident of Selvapuram area here. 

Ranjith Kumar was studying BBA through distance education for which he was staying at his friend's room in Coimbatore Puthur area.



The gold chain of his friend, Abu Bakr from Chennai was missing then. Abu Bakr suspected Ranjit Kumar in this regard and Ranjith Kumar was attacked by 7 persons including his friends Adidya, Daresh, Azhar and Sabiq, In this Ranjith Kumar suffered a serious head injury.

However Ranjith Kumar managed to flee and reached his home immediately, his parents admitted him to a nearby private hospital on October 12.

He was transferred to CMCH for treatment on October 14. Ranjith Kumar, was operated on Wednesday but he died at the hospital on Thursday morning without responding to the treatment.

Madukkarai police have registered a case and arrested Aditya in connection with the attack.



Following Ranjit Kumar's death, a number of college students rushed to CMCH on Thursday and requested the police to arrest the 7 accused responsible for his death.
