The students of Social Works Department (MSW) Department of Bharathiar University have joined hands with the City Corporation to create awareness among the public on dengue through street plays and cultural programmes. One such play was hosted yesterday, the 26th October, at Rathinapuri, which evoked good response from the public.

A rally was organised by the students from Rathinapuri to Power House. They halted at prominent junctions and enacted street plays and songs on do's and dont's, how to guard their families from dengue, symptoms of dengue and how carelessness could turn fatal. The street plays were performed in a very simple way so that the public can understand the core of the issue without any difficulty.

"As the incidence of dengue and viral fevers is on a rise, we feel that it's important on our part to create awareness among the public on preventive measures. Hence, we have joined hands with the City Corporation to spread awareness in a fun-filled and engaging way among the public. We plan to conduct more such street plays in different areas of the City", shared Mala, a student.

The rally was flagged off by Dr. K. Santhosh Kumar, City Health Officer.
