Ethical voting pledge to be administered

The Coimbatore district administration officials have taken steps to administer ethical voting pledge, says a release.

Flying squad and static surveillance team officials in Coimbatore on Sunday seized Rs. 26.63 lakh from a few persons on suspicion that it could be unaccounted cash.

After some of them produced documents, the officials returned Rs. 9.10 lakh. The total seizure in the district stands at Rs. 43.96 crore. Of it, the officials had returned Rs. 42.36 crore.

Officials on poll duty have got in touch with representatives from colleges and corporate companies to have the pledge administered to students and employees. The objective was to cover eight lakh voters.

On completion of the pledge, the management of the respective institutions may upload pictures on to www.elections.tn.gov.in or mail the photographs to [email protected] or WhatsApp the same to 97896-00522 or 96290-23031.

The Nilgiris district administration will conduct an ethical voting pledge at 10 AM at the HADP grounds in the Udhagamandalam Assembly constituency and in the office of the returning officers in the Gudalur and Coonoor Assembly constituencies.

A release from the administration said that the pledge was to drive home the point that voters should not take either cash or gifts or both from political parties to vote. Instead, they should vote according to their conscience. The senior officers will administer the pledge. At the HADP grounds at 10 AM and at the two other locations also at the same time.

Plus, the administration officials will also administer pledge at bus stands and public thorough fares.
