Tourist drowns in Aliyar Dam

In a tragic accident, a 40-year-old tourist from Coimbatore drowned in the Aliyar Dam while bathing, here on Thursday.

According to sources, the deceased, M. Sathakathukulla from Kottaimedu in Coimbatore, had gone to the Aliyar Dam along with his family members. While he was bathing in the dam, he had reportedly ventured into deep waters, and, as he did not knew swimming, he drowned to death.

A case has been registered by the district police, and they are investigating.
