Youth refuses to pay for liquor, cop assaults him

A police constable has been arrested for having assaulted a youth who refused to pay for drinking.

According to a complaint lodged with the Kovilpalayam. police by Nataraj, 38, of A.S.Kulam, he was assaulted on Deepavali day (Wednesday) by Tamilselvan, 24, a Grade II constable attached to the Special Battalion, Kovaipudur, and his brother Mohan who  demanded money for drinking in a bar near the bus stand at A.S.Kulam. The complainant alleged that he was beaten up by Tamilselvan and Mohan when he refused to give them any money.

Based on his complaint, the constable and his brother were arrested by the Kovilpalayam police on Thursday.
