The sanitation workers of Coimbatore Corporation are on strike for the second day today pressing a charter of demands.

Selvaraj, President of AITUC said, “The Corporation had talks with the representatives of various unions yesterday. Then the corporation officials assured that a committee would be formed to inspect the allotment and disbursal of proper bonus. We demanded that such committees should be formed for all regions and reports should be published regarding those committees. But the Corporation officials did not agree. The garbage is lying in heaps in all places as they have not been removed by the sanitation workers.

In these days, when there is the danger of the spread of Dengue, it will be quite dangerous to allow the garbage to remain everywhere. Unless the Corporation Administration fulfils our demands without further delay, all the garbage will be heaped in front of the Corporation”, Selvaraj warned.
