Wild elephants damaged four houses in Sangili road area in Pannimedu, near Walparai.
There seems to be no respite from the attack of wild elephants for the people living in the Sangili road area in Pannimedu. The herd of 6 elephants that have camped in the Sangili Road Estate area in Pannimedu, have been breaking into ration shops, nutritious noon meal centres and workers’ residence during nights.

Last night, the herd entered the bungalow in which Gandhi, Murthy, Gebir and Sakthivel were living and damaged the vessels, cot, bureau and television set. They also destroyed the plantain groves, nearby. Gandhi escaped through the back door and informed others through cell phone and requested help.

The neighbours gathered and drove away the elephants into the forest. The people in that area are unhappy that the forest department has not taken any action to protect them from the attack of elephants. They have made an earnest request that the elephants who have camped in that area for a week should be driven back into the forest with the help of the kumki elephants.
