It is Shiv Khera who said winners do not do different things. But they do it differently.
The gesture of "Pasumai Desam", an NGO devoted to environment, has won the the hearts of many this Deepavali.
Instead of traversing the trodden path of wearing new clothes, bursting crackers and spending their time with their family on the Deepavali day, the members of this NGO greeted the crew of about 100 buses at Gandhipuram bus stand. Besides, they distributed sweets to them. In addition, they gave them a "thulasi" (basil) seedling too.
The crew of these vehicles were virtually moved to tears when showered with so much of affection unknown to them all these years, that too from those who have absolutely nothing to do with them.
They admitted that this was a great recognition to their work as bus crew on a festival day and "we are prepared to go in for afforestation drive with the Pasumai Desam," they said.
The Pasumai Desam members distributed sweets to the police, emergency services and also fire service personnel stationed there and thus won the appreciation of one and all.
