The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the formation of six more flying squads for Thondamuthur and Pollachi constituency where AIADMK minister SP Velumani and deputy speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman are contesting. To monitor money circulation in the two constituencies, three flying squads for each constituency were formed by the district collector on Thursday.
Coimbatore district has ten assembly constituencies including Mettupalayam, Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore South, Coimbatore North, Singanallur, Thondamuthur, Sulur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi and Valparai. The state AIADMK minister SP Velumani is contesting from Thondamuthur constituency and deputy speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman is contesting from Pollachi.
The district administration has formed 30 flying squads (three squads for each constituency) to conduct checks and prevent illegal money circulations in the general elections. Meanwhile, the ECI has directed to all the district collectors to form additional flying squads in the constituencies where AIADMK ministers are contesting.
These squads will monitor the illegal money circulations and distribution to voters and will take appropriate action.
