Minister Velumani's statement on dengue raises eyebrows!

"So far, no dengue deaths have been reported in Coimbatore District. People tend to get viral fevers as they consume water from various places," said SP Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, here, after visiting the Dengue Ward in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

The Minister along with MLAs from the region visited the hospital and distributed Nilavembu decotion to the patients and their attenders.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said "The State government is acting on a “war-footing” to contain the spread of dengue fever in some parts of the State. As the incidence of dengue in Coimbatore is declining, there is no reason to panic. As there are no dengue deaths reported in the District, the Central expert team will not be invited to assess the situation."

The Minister also opined that there is no possibility of DMK leader Stalin becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by aligning with the AIADMK MLAs who are loyal TTV Dhinakaran. While DMK is known for its corrupt governance, Stalin accusing us for not initiating action against sale of gutkha is laughable.

The statement issued by the Minister denying dengue deaths in the district has certainly raised eyebrows.
