District Collector T.N. Hariharan today inspected anti-dengue measures at Chinnnakuyili village of Kallapalayam panchayat union limits and inaugurated a medical camp there.

He also supervised the distribution of Nilavembu decoction to the villagers and said. " The Nilavembu decoction is distributed in all the schools and anganwadis in the first five days of the month to increase the immunity level of children".

Explaining the life cycle of aedes agypti, the dengue mosquito, to the gerenal public the collector said "that a female mosquito lays up to 150 to 200 eggs in freshwater puddles at a go. And these mosquito eggs become larvae in 6 days and pupa later before flying out as full grown adult mosquitoes in 21 days. The cycle should be broken by destroying the breeding sites".

Adding that “DBC workers would ensure that mosquito breeding is prevented at any cost by door to door sanitizing and fogging measures and all the public places would be cleaned regularly in this regard..
