106.32 cents of public purpose land retrieved by Corporation

The encroachment eviction drive conducted by the City Corporation on Saturday helped retrieve 106.32 cents of land meant for public purpose.

As per orders from Corporation Commissioner, Dr.K.Vijayakarthikeyan, a team of officials retrieved 35 cents of public purpose land from Ward No:32 (East Zone) Sri Dhanalakshmi Nagar, Vilangurichi, 17.65 cents from Ward No:16 (West Zone), Bhavan Park, Park Site I and II (New Thillai Nagar extension), Vadavalli, 10.67 cents from Ward No:19 (West Zone), Raju Naidu layout, Veerakeralam. Corporation has also issued notice to land owners for encroachment of 10.71 cents of public purpose land in the same place. It also retrieved 18 cents of public purpose land from Ward No:28 (North Zone), Sri Sakthi garden (Phase-II), Saravanampati and 25 cents from Ward No:98 (South Zone), Elangovan Nagar (Phase I & II), Kurichi.

"In a bid to retrieve all reserved sites at all 100 wards in the City, the Corporation has been conducting a drive. Boards indicating ownership of land vested with the Corporation and also warning messages to the public to refrain from encroaching upon such lands have been placed in the retrieved sites. The drive would continue until all public purpose sites are retrieved", said Corporation Commissioner in a press statement.
