After a nine-hour long struggle, the veterinary team headed by Dr. Venilla successfully recouped, a 40-year-old sick female elephant that collapsed on a farmland in Karadimadai, here, during the wee hours of 14th October.

According to reports, the female elephant was part of a herd of three elephants that grazed in the farmlands of Karadimadai Village. Due to prolonged illness, the female elephant collapsed in the farmland and was unable to stand on it's foot. Click here to know more about sick elephant.
"As the herd continued to guard the sick elephant, there was a delay in administering treatment. However, after a long struggle, the officials with the help of the locals chased the herd into the forests and started treating the sick female elephant. Buckets of water was splashed on the elephant which was extremely bony and dehydrated", an official shared.
At last the sick elephant slowly responded to the treatment and finally got on it's foot and left into the forests. The villagers and the environmentalists from the region have expressed their appreciations to the team for acting swiftly and saving the life of a dying elephant.
