Three stray horses wandering around the road caused panic to the motorists passing through the Mettupalayam Road, near GN Mills.

Mettupalayam road (NH 67) is considered as one of the busiest roads in the city. The 40 KM road connects Coimbatore with Mettupalayam and is the gateway for Udhagamandalam, the Queen of Hills. More than 10 lakh vehicles pass through the road every day.
On Saturday, three horses were standing in the middle of the road and crippled the traffic. The motorists became panicky.

“This is not the first time. Every week the horses are wandering around in this area at least for two days. It is very difficult to drive vehicles and ride the two-wheelers. If I honk then horses start galloping which might cause a serious accident. Police should take immediate action,” pleads L. Rajkumar, an IT professional.
Residents of the area alleged that the owners of the horses were unknown but they are definitely farmers who are living near Thadagam area here.
“The owners utilize their horses for carrying some luggage at night and free the animals to run around during the day as they are not ready to spend on feeding them”, said P Arumugam, a resident of GN Mills area.
People affected by these types of issues should inform the animal welfare organizations so that the horses could be taken into safe custody, said J.Arulraj, an activist.
“We have not yet received any complaints regarding this. Once we get then we will find the owners of the horses and impose fine”, said a police official.
