A disaster reduction awareness rally was taken out in view of the International Day of Disaster Reduction being observed (October 13) all over the world.
Students carried placards carrying life –saving messages such as “Don’t use electrical and electronic goods including cell phones and don’t take shelter under trees during rains and thunderstorms”.
It was also stressed not to use water to douse fire breakout caused by electric short circuit but switch off the mains as it would prevent fire from spreading.
Over 200 college students and faculty members took part in the rally which commenced from Government Arts College and passed through post office, bus stand and taluk office.
