A portion of cement plaster in a school roof has fallen. This is outside the class rooms in the newly constructed Government Higher secondary school in Kadathur, near Udumalpet, Tiruppur District. None was injured in this incident but provoked the students to boycott the classes on Friday.
People in that area lamented that the school was opened just 2 months ago. They allege that the building is not strong enough. Hence, the State government should initiate action against the contractor who constructed it.
“The school building, which was built in a hurry, is now collapsing, because of the heavy rains for the past few days . If the cement plaster had fallen inside the class rooms then the students will be in great trouble . They may be severely injured. Tiruppur District Collector wants to conduct an inquiry into this issue,” said A.Sekar, one of the residents near the school.

Due to this incident, authorities have declared a holiday for the school today . ”we have informed the authorities and they will visit the school to conduct an inquiry soon” said a school official.
