Issuing a stern warning to the officialdom for laxity in implementing anti-dengue measures, District Collector T. N. Hariharan said that coordination of the health, revenue and panchayat level officials is the need of the hour to eradicate dengue causing mosquitoes and free the general population from the disease.

Inspecting dengue mosquito eradication measures in Annur panchayat union limits, the collector exhorted the NGOs and members of public to lend their support in the drive against dengue.
"The mosquito eradication (aedes agypti or tiger mosquitoes) measures are being carried out on a war footing and villages are the focal point of mosquito eradication drive of the Government. Places such as schools, colleges, offices, bus stands, and movie theatres, construction sites, and households are potential breeding sites for the vector and these sites should be targeted and mosquitoes destroyed." Hariharan said.

“Mosquito eradication drive has been made a people’s movement and members of public would be exhorted to support the drive. NGOs, traders bodies, construction sector, and voluntary organizations have been roped in to do the vital duty of eradication dengue- causing mosquitoes, which is bearing result,” the collector said.
