Alleging that the ruling AIADMK is concentrating on celebraing MGR Birth Anniversary celebrations across the state at the cost of people’s welfare, and mounting number of dengue deaths in the state, Premalatha Vijayakanth, DMDK women’s wing leader, said that inordinate delay in holding polls for the local bodies has caused confusion and the outbreak of dengue could not be contained owing to lack of local bodies.
After visiting the dengue ward in Government Medical College Hospital, Premalatha said "the people from Tiruppur and Coimbatore are the worst affected. Other districts such as Tiruvallur, Pudukkottai, Tiruchy have also have been affected with high number of dengue cases and deaths".
"The Central government should treat dengue outbreak as a national emergency like tsunami and extend a helping hand to tide over the public health crisis". Premalatha said and added "that the dengue treatment should be included in Chief Minister’s comprehensive health scheme and treatment extended to the affected."
Alleging that the visit of Helath Minister Vijayabhaskar to Delhi was to placate the rulers after the income tax raid in his premises, Premalatha said the public health system has collapsed under his tutelage.
The present TN Government headed by Edapadi Palanisamy is tottering and it would soon go out of office. "We expect a good verdict on November 4".
Premalatha also said that the DMDK is inherently strong and could face challenges from new entrants into politics, may it be actors or otherwise.
