Over 500 transgenders participated in a special camp organized by the Social welfare Department in the collectorate campus, in which petitions for welfare measures were received from the members of third gender.
Sherin Philip, District social Welfare officer said that free land pattas have been issued to 24 transgenders in Karamadai area and 10 members in Chinnavedampatti.
"Free Land pattas will be distributed to transgender beneficiaries in Podanur Chettipalayam soon. The welfare of transgender community, who live on the margins of society have been given priority and the welfare measures have been extended to them.” Sherin Philip said.
