Pilot measures are being taken by the government to augment the number of organizations and firms to be brought under Employee Provident Fund Scheme (EPF) as only 10 lakh firms have so far registered themselves and efforts would be made to make it double (20 lakhs) in the next year said Santhosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent charge).
Santhosh Kumar Gangwar who laid the foundation stone for a Regional EPF office building to be constructed at Salem at a ceremony told the media that the compliance level would be upped by new measures by the government.
"While GST compliance is put at 80 lakh companies, the EPF complaiance is only at 10 lakh companies and organisations" the minister noted.
While noting that the digitization of EPF Organizations across the country in the last year, paperless office would be norm in near future. As many as 38 existing labour welfare laws would be integrated into enact 4 leading laws and the Government is also set to bring in necessary changes and operations in Child Labour Prevention and Regulation Act.
