Two trucks full of garbage was removed from the banks of 'Muthannan Kulam' also called as the 'Kumarasamy Kulam' at a cleaning drive, this morning.

In a bid to restore and rejuvenate the water bodies in the city, NGO Kovai Kulangal Padhukapu Amaipu in association with City Corporation has been conducting cleaning drives every weekend. This week, the zestful volunteers started the cleaning drive at Muthannan Kulam starting from 6 am.

Volunteers from EFI and State Bank of India also gave a lending hand to clean the shores of Muthannan Kulam which is presently dumped with garbage of all forms. Loads of trash including paper wastes, plastic bottles, covers, worn out beds, clothes and furnitures that were irresponsibly discarded by the public on the banks of the water body were cleared.

Committing to this cleaning drive, State Bank Of India has promised to provide all required equipments for the next eight weeks.
