Isha Foundation in collaboration with Nayeli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has undertaken desilting of Kuruchi Lake from July 22 which is progressing well.
Students of Kumaraguru College of Technology have contributed in this activity by cleaning the plastic waste inside the lake today. And also tested the near nil pollution levels in sewage water of Natural sewage treatment plant organized by Isha Foundation as a part of their education.
Organizer from Isha Foundation has mentioned that the desilting of Kuruchi Lake will get over in 20 days and the lake will be ready to store water during the next spell of rains.
Trees will be planted on the available lands in the middle of the lake. She added that if the Government permits they are looking forward to create Kuruchi Lake as a model for Coimbatore Smart City Project.
