"Those wards lacking public toilet facilities can approach Zonal Offices" Corporation Commissioner

In a bid to make the city 100% free from 'Open Defecation', the City Corporation has built several public toilet complexes in all 100 wards while continuously creating awareness among the masses to use toilets to defecate. 

"Awareness campaigns, posters in every part of the city, distribution of pamphlets to people have yielded great results, as people who were defecating in the open are now using public toilets built by the Corporation. 

Despite educating the people on the ill-effects of open defecation, incidents of open defaction has been reported in areas like Kamarajapuram, Light house road, Subramania Road, Kuniamuthur, Sundarapuram, Kuruchi, Kovaipudur, Kuniamuthur, Chokkampudur, Cheeti Veedhi. A fine of Rs. 600 has been levied on people for defecating in the open", says the release from Corporation.

Further, the release also states that people can approach Corporation zonal offices of their wards to raise complaints on open defecation issues and also report if their wards do not have proper public toilet facilities.
