Delayed representation and admission led to many dengue deaths in the district- District collector T.N. Hariharan.

Even as four persons including three children succumbed to mysterious fever at the Government Medical College hospital today, the District Collector, TN Hariharan, who inspected the dengue and other flu and fever wards of the hospital claimed that delayed admission of patients with dengue is the prime cause for death.

While addressing the Press after inspecting the dengue ward at CMCH, District Collector said "While 20 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue, another 190 persons have been admitted there with seasonal flu and viral fevers".

"Shifting of critical dengue patients from private hospitals to government hospitals at the last minute, delay in presenting the dengue affected patients to the Hospital on time are some of the reasons that has attributed to deaths", he said.

Some of the dengue patients have been transferred to Government Medical College hospital at a critical stage and so their lives could not be saved by the medial fraternity in the hospital, the collector claimed to the shock of many.

It may recalled that so far dengue had claimed over 30 lives in the district and four other succumbed to mysterious viral fever today.

Six year old Priyahasini of Alanthurai, Sathyavathy (8) of Tiruppur, Dharanya (10) of Tiruppur and Vanisree (20) of Tiruppur who have been admitted to the hospital with mysterious fever died.
