Udumalai Kalam, a look alike of Dr. Abdul Kalam, the erst while President of India, created a flutter in Government Medical College premises in the city today, when he appeared there without any notice.
Udumalai Kalam, a painter by profession is an ardent follower of Dr. Abdul Kalam and he had the opportunity to meet the world famous rocket scientist that Dr. Kalam was, twice during the former’s life time.
Udumalai Kalam vouched that his physical similarities with the great man has fetched him not only recognition but also fulfilment in his life as a whole. Wherever he goes, he gets requests for selfies and photos, to which he obliges with a ready smile.
“So far I have visited over 25 villages and gave a talk on PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas), a pet project of Dr. Abdul Kalam. Schools and colleges have also invited me to deliver talks on rural and social upliftment and other topics. My physical resemblance to Dr. Kalam has come as a boon to me” said Udumalai Kalam to SimpliCity.
“It is a God’s gift that I am endowed with physical resemblance to Dr. Abdul Kalam, and I am using this God- given gift to spread his messages of love, peace, religious amity, and rural upliftment among the villagers and youth of Tamilnadu” said Udumalai Kalam beaming with noticeable pride.
Udumalai Kalam, the humble man that he is, is overwhelmed by the requests to take selfies with him when he visited the room of Resident medical officer in Government medical college hospital, where he is admitted for treatment of cardiac ailment.
