Dengue fever death toll mounts in the city, two more deaths reported.

Two more deaths have been reported due to dengue in the City. Muktha Munda (19) and Kaveri (25) succumbed to dengue fever, today.

Muktha hails from Orissa and was working as a daily labour in Periyanaickenpalayam area. For the past 4 days, Muktha has been suffering from high fever. As his fever intensified, Muktha was taken for admission at Coimbatore General Hospital. Sadly, Muktha died before he reached the hospital.

Similarly, Kaveri from Sirumugai has been complaining of fever for the past 10 days. It is reported that Kaveri succumbed to the illness at a private hospital in Sirumugai, this morning.

While sources say, close to 30 people have died due to dengue in the past three months, the Government Hospital records state the death number as six. Even in today's case, the Doctors from the Government Hospital state that Muktha and Kaveri were not infected by Dengue virus but died due to other illnesses.

Social activists from the City allege that the poor sanitation conditions prevailing in the city has led to the outbreak of such diseases. Irregular disposal of garbage by the City Corporation has aided in breeding of these dreadful mosquitoes like Aedes that causes dengue.
