Tippler who campaigned for continuation of TASMAC outlet near Sulur dies of alcoholism.

One of the tipplers who had thronged the Collectorate and petitioned District Collector T.N.Hariharan praying not to shift out or close down the TASMAC out let functioning in Senganthurai near Sulur a week ago had died after he consumed too much alcohol.

Arumugam, the tippler had allegedly consumed too much alcohol and lost his consciousness. An ambulance was called to transport him to the hospital but the tippler had died before the ambulance arrived at his village.

Alleging that the ruling party members have been lobbying for support among tipplers in the village for to facilitate the continuation of the TASMAC outlet in Senganthurai despite people's protest against it, the affected villagers said that free alcohol was supplied to people like Arumugam who supported the continuation of TASMAC outlet.

The anti-TASMAC protesters said that the evil designs of the ruling party members, who supplied free alcohol to tippler had claimed the life of Arumugam, the lone bread winner of the his family.

"We have already submitted a petition to District Collector T.N.Hariharan to close down or shift out the TASMAC outlet in Senganthurai, as many have fallen victim to alcoholism, and it had already claimed the life of one person, if the authorities do not shift out the shop, it might lead to loss of many lives in our village", the villagers said.
