The launch function of the Panama- based Dr APJ Abdul Kalam University, promoted by Dr a P J Abdul Kalam University Foundation, and is being organized today.
Speaking about the launch of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam University, Dr Subramonian, and Chancellor of the university said that the university was founded by a group of eminent educationists from India and abroad.
“As Dr Abdul Kalam belongs to Tamil Nadu, the university is starting its branch in Coimbatore as a tribute to his memory, and we are proud of that “Dr Subramonian, said.
M.O.H.F Mr. Shahjahan MariKar, Minister of Revenue, Transport, Industries & Commerce, Government of Puducherry and Dr.A.Ameer Khan. Member CACL, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, are the chief guests on the occasion.
Registrar Dr.Himmath A. Hussain and Vice Chancellor Dr. Hisamuddin Papa will also participate in the inaugural function of the university. Dr.A.PJ. Abdul Kalam University is managed by Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University Foundation a Charitable and Educational Trust with a team of dedicated educationists.
Elaborating about the university's activities, Dr Subramonian said that the university aims to lead the world in research. We are committed to disciplinary excellence -across the sciences; the mathematical, physical and life sciences, the social sciences; and the humanities and interdisciplinary research that will benefit society on a national and global scale.
“There is extensive collaboration with leading university networks, public agencies and business - in Panama and internationally” he added.
"We aim to maximize the benefits of research by advancing fundamental knowledge and contributing to better public policy, improved health outcomes, economic prosperity, social cohesion, international development, community identity, the arts, culture and the quality of life”, he added.
“The scale of research activity at Dr.A.PJ. Abdul Kalam University is substantial, including more than 70 departments. The university offers a wide range of courses including journalism and mass communication to choose from.” Dr Subramonian, the chancellor said.
Later speaking to media M.O.H.F Shahjahan, Minister of Revenue, Transport, Industries & Commerce, Government of Puducherry said that there is truth in the statement that the Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister Narayanasamy have difference of opinion and they don’t see eye to eye on many matters.
Alleging that the interference of the Governor in policy decisions is continuing, Shajahan said that the Governor is holding up some files and delay the process of signing it.
While rejecting the dengue is rampant in Puducherry, he said the Chief Minister Narayanasamy has formed to special committee to monitor and contain the fever in the state.
