Cleanliness drives were conducted in Vellimalaipatinam Panchayat, Thondamuthur Constituency, as a part of the 'Cleanliness Service' campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Minister SP Velumani presided over the cleaning drive and urged the officials to conduct massive cleaning drives at all prominent junctions of the city.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said "Under the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister, our CM Edapadi has ordered all District Administrations to take up the Cleanliness Service campaign which will end on 2nd October. All government schools, primary health centres, public toilets, railway station, bus stands are cleaned by the volunteers of the Swachh Bharat campaign and the staff of district administration".
"The people are also sensitized to continue to keep the premises clean and to refrain from open defecation" Minister said.
District Collector TN Hariharan, Ruban Sankar Raj, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency and other officials were present during the cleaning drive.
