City Journalists condemn legal action initiated on reporters from Tirunelveli.

This morning, the Journalists in the City staged an agitation condemning against the legal action initiated against reporters of Puthiya Thalaimurai, a TV Channel and Dhinakaran, a daily magazine.

Both the TV Channel and the Daily Magazine presented a news claiming an explosion at ISRO's Propulsion Research Complex (IPRC) at Mahendragiri, Tirunelveli. Following which complaints were lodged by the officials from ISRO's Propulsion Research Complex (IPRC) alleging the reporters to have presented unwarranted information.

Based on the complaints, Panagudi Police registered a case against the reporters of the TV Channel and the daily for presenting unverified facts to the public.

The protesting Journalists demanded that the cases filed on these reporters have to be evoked and also action be taken on the Inspector of Panagudi Police Station, Tirunelveli District for charging them under four sections.

However, the officials from ISRO's IPRC have clarified that a pile of limestones slipped off the hill near the research complex causing huge noise and dust. But as falsely reported, there was no explosion.
