Current Flower prices in Poo Market.


Following the Ayudha Pooja celebrations in the city, the flower market in the city is crowded with people to buy flowers and garlands. 

During this festivity, flowers are widely used by the people to decorate their homes, establishments, factories, etc., Even cars and bikes would be decorated with floral garlands. Hence, this demand for flowers has led to steep increase of flower prices which when compared to last week, is 4-5 times higher. 



"Astral variety flowers (blue, white and yellow) is the new variety for this season which is sold at Rs. 150 to 200/-", shared one of the wholesale flower seller. 

Here are the rates of the flowers as of evening of 28th September:

Jasmine (Maligai) - Rs. 600 to 800 per kg depending on the size and freshness.

Chrysanthemum (Sevandhi) - Rs. 200 to Rs. 1000/- (one sack weighing 7-8 kgs)

Nerium oleander (Arali) - Rs. 420 (small variety)

Mullai Flower - Rs. 600

Tulasi - Rs. 50 - 75 (one bunch)

Rose - Rs. 200 (per bunch of 10 flowers)

Garlands for cars and vehicles are available from Rs. 300/-

One pair of Sugarcane - Rs. 80
