Siruvani dam which is the prominent source of drinking water for the City is all set to reach it's full capacity as the storage levels have touched 51.76 feet against the total capacity of 55.76. With similar patterns of rainfall in the catchment areas, the water level will soon rise above the dead storage, say the Officials.
Following incessant rainfall in Siruvani catchment areas, the water level in the reservoir has increased gradually. It is expected that the reservoir would reach its full capacity as the main tributaries Pambarau, Muthikulam and Pattiaru continues to flood.
Presently, close to 877.28 Cubic Water is stored in the reservoir and 75.50 MLD of water is being released from the dam for usage. The rainfall stood at 7 mm at the Siruvani and 31 mm at the catchment areas.
While the last overflow in Siruvani was three years ago, this over flow which is about to occur has brought cheers among the people and the officials.
