About 5000 saplings would be planted in the western region of the TamilNadu Postal Circle as part of the National Postal week to be celebrated from October 9 to 15 and a target of 1 lakh saplings have been set for Tamilnadu Postal circle said Shrada Sampath Post master General (western Region).
Inaugurating the tree planting campaign under Green India Initiative, at Koyambedu post office in Chennai she said the open spaces in post offices would be utilized for the purpose and about 50,000 saplings to be planted with in October.
Saplings have been planted in the postal lands available in Press colony, SS kulam Senior.
Postal Superintendent Chitra Devi who presided over the tree planting campaign in KK Pudur said so far 500 saplings have been planted and eight more locations of postal department is identified for further plantation drive, which would be completed soon.
