Appealing to rescue the migrant workers who have been taken for a ride for unscrupulous agents, the migrant laborers petitioned the district collector TN Hariharan to guarantee work security to the migrant workers reaching Tamilnadu from North Indian states.
The functionaries who came to the collectorate said that recently three migrant workers from Chhattisgarh have been brought to Tamilnadu on promise of jobs by an agent who sold them to a bore well company operating in Erode.
The laborers Dhaneshwar, Mahendra Gurge and Anathkumar, was lured by an agent of Erode on promise of higher wages. But when they reached Erode, there subjected to assault and humiliation.
Later they were sold to borewell companies in three different places including Erode, Athur, and Ulundurpet.
“The threesome have been rescued by us. But still there are many who are caught in the clutches of agents and working as bonded laborers in miserable conditions in the district and they need to be rescued” the Migrant laborer association members said.
