The volunteers of Kovai Kulangal Pathukaapu Amaippu, which has successfully renovated the vital water bodies in the summer months have taken up Palmyra planting in Ganganarayana Samurdram and Sottaiyandi kuttais in Perur.
Launched as a part of 33rd week of movement's field work about 50 volunteers planted the 1200 Palmyra seeds with the help of boring machine, which was made available by Rotary Club, Zenith, and Coimbatore.

"The volunteers have taken up Palmyra planting as it is drought resistant native plant, the numbers of which have been dwindling over the years" said the volunteers.

The value added products of Palmyra are in high demand all over the country, which include palm sugar and helath drinks.
