Avinashi car accident: Death toll rise to six, one other injured reported critical.


The gruesome car accident on the Avinashi-Thekalur road has claimed the lives of six people leaving one other person critically injured.

This morning, Kandasamy from Namakkal who is also the President of Tiruchengode, Co-operative Manufacturers society, James Ramu, Deputy President of the society along with five others were en route to Coimbatore International Airport to send off James Ramu to a conference to be held in New Delhi. It is to be noted that both James and Kandasamy are members of AIADMK party.

While the car was approaching a bridge on the Avinashi-Thekalur area, a government bus plying from Salem to Coimbatore collided with the Car after which the car toppled and was thrown off the bridge. Hearing a big bang, the locals and the motorists rushed to the spot to rescue the passengers.

Five people including Kandasamy and James Ramu had succumbed to the injuries, while two others were critically injured and groaning out of pain. The police rescued the survivors and sent them to Tirupur Government Hospital.

An hour ago, one of the survivor who was referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, died on the way. The driver of the car whose both thigh bones have been broken to pieces is also reported to be in a critical situation at the Coimbatore General Hospital.
