Students oppose relaxation of mandatory "Tamil proficiency test" during Banking service recruitment


Condemning that move to do away with the proficiency test in Tamil which was a mandatory condition for clerical posts in Public sector banks in Tamilnadu the student aspirants, who are preparing for banking service exams said that this would lead to Tamilnadu students losing vital opportunities in the banking sector.

The students who addressed the press, in the press club in the city said that there are 1277 vacancies for clerical posts and with the relaxation of rule to make proficiency test in Tamil a mandatory one, the prospects of over 10 lakh Tamilnadu students appearing for BSRB exams would get affected.

"Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) which conducts Common Written Exam (CWC) should reintroduce proficiency test in Tamil as a compulsory clause during recruitment of staff in Tamilnadu and conduct proficiency tests for the staff already appointed with out any further delay", they demanded.
