CCMC Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan convened a monsoon preparedness consultative meeting with the civic officials in which a health advisory has been proposed both for officials and city denizens to avoid monsoon related illnesses.
Advising the common public to drink only hard boiled water ( until pebbles surface) to prevent water contamination he said in case of diarrhoea people should approach the nearest PHC, or hospital to get oral rehydration salts (ORS).
Using only chlorinated water is best advised and cleaning of hands with soap, is also advised to steer clear of stomach related ailments including gastroenteritis break out.
The city denizens should look out for snapped power lines and not to venture to touch it without proper equipment, the commissioner said that the environment should be kept clean by proper disposal of garbage and litter, which would prevent the spread of germs.
The Commissioner said that dedicated help lines have been created to seek help from City Corporation for monsoon related problems including rescue and relief of persons caught in emergency situations.
