15-year-old boy succumbs to dengue fever at Coimbatore Government Hospital.


Rupen, a 15-year-old boy of Kangeyam in Tiruppur District who was undergoing treatment for dengue has succumbed to the fever at the Government Medical College Hospital.

The boy who was referred to Government Medical College Hospital a few days ago was given intensive treatment by the doctors at the hospital. The boy had high fever and the clinical blood tests confirmed serious dengue infection. Despite treatment, the boy succumbed to his illness today.

Rupen son of Kandasamy was pursuing 8th class in a school at Kangeyam.

According to doctors “It is recommended to go for a blood test for dengue (Elisa test) if fever persisted for more than three days. The boy’s parents got him admitted in a hospital in advanced stages of fever and he could not be saved”, said the doctors.
