Differently abled woman waiting in vain to set up a petty shop for 18 long years


Mariammal, a differently abled woman who has petitioned subsequent collectors for setting up of petty shop for the last 18 years is still running from pillar to post as her request for livelihood measures have not been fulfilled till this day.

A resident of Arunachalam Street, in RS puram the woman had sought a bank loan to start a petty shop through District Rehabilitation Centre, "but my prayers were not answered even after a gap of 18 years by the district administration" the affected woman says.

“The district administration has dumped my petition to grant me a tenement in Tamilnadu Slum Clearance Board too, even though I am an eligible beneficiary’ says the differently abled woman, with hardly any family member to financially support her. 

The wronged woman has threatened to end her life, if the district administration doesn't act in time and extend livelihood measures to her.
