Aliyar, Sholayar, Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy reservoirs to reach full capacity.


Major reservoirs including Aliyar, Sholayar and Parambikulam are fast filling up thanks to incessant rains in the catchment areas of these dams.

According to officials the inflow has increased into these dams in the past few days. 

While the storage level in Sholayar dam has risen to 130.56 feet against its total storage level of 160 feet due to increased inflow of 5549 cubic feet, other dams in the region have also received good inflows and its storage level has gone up 

The catchment areas of Sholyar dam has received 170 mm rainfall in the past few days leading to good inflow into the dam. 

While Parambikulam reservoir has registered an impressive inflow 5186 cubic feet, its storage level stood at 35.70 feet.

The inflow in to Aliyar has been 1154 cubic feet and the rain received in the catchment areas put at 24 mm.

The reservoirs in Tiruppur district have received good inflow and storage level of Amaravathi dam and Thirumoorthy dam have sharply increased

While Amaravati dam’s storage level has risen to 79.30 feet /90, Thirumoorthy dam has reached 43.70/60 feet 

Valparai received the maximum of 109 mm followed by Upper Neeraru 172 mm, Peruvaripallam 82 mm, and Pollachi 50.8 mm.
