In a swift work general people along with the Forest Department joined forces to clear out a tree bark that fell on the middle of the Road in the Valparai hills here on Sunday.

According to Senior Officials from the Forest Department, a tree was noticed fallen near the 22nd hairpin bend on the Attakatti to Valparai Road around 11.40 pm. Since the tree was huge, it blocked the way for vehicle users and created traffic for a long time.
In order to remove the tree, an immediate rescue team was formed by the forest officials and along with tourists and general public, they used saws and sickles to remove the tree bark from the Road and helped clear the traffic even as it was drizzling.

The tree had fallen, owing to the heavy rains and flash floods in the Ghat Region for the past one week and according to a report from the District Administration, Valparai had received 113 mm. of rainfall on the day forcing the authorities to shut down schools on Monday.
