All department heads take "Cleanliness is Service" pledge at the District Collectorate.

Officials from various departments in the presence of District Collector T.N. Hariharan took the "Cleanliness is Service" pledge in the Collectorate. The Cleanliness is Service campaign was kick-started on 15th February, 2017 and will conclude on 2nd October, 2017.

"Since the start of the campaign, we have instilled the thought of cleanliness at rural and urban levels by targeting places like schools, government offices, bus stands, railway stations and public toilets. People were sensitized to practice cleanliness and keep their premises clean at all times.

Especially, awareness on ill-effects of open defecation was spread among the masses. People living in rural and sub-urbs were educated to use toilets to relieve themselves instead of defecating in open, which not only is unhygienic but paves way to several dreadful diseases", District Collector, said.

During the pledge the officials vowed to continue to instill the though of cleanliness among the public. District Revenue Officer, Durai Ravichandran, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Ruban Sankar Raj, District Civil Supplies Officer, Venkatapriya among others were present.
