Incessant rains in Siruvani catchment area, Kovai Kutralam falls closed due to flash floods.

Since yesterday night, rains have been lashing down in many parts of our district. Water bodies have been witnessing flash floods, especially the Kovai Kutralam falls in Siruvani has been closed due to flash floods.

"Not just today, the falls would remain closed for the next couple of days if rains continue at this pace" sources say.

As the water flowing from Attapady to Siruvani has increased multi-fold, the water levels in Siruvani dam has been increasing rapidly. Not just Siruvani, all critical catchment areas like Pillur, Bhavani, Aliyar are also receiving uninterrupted monsoon rains which has brought cheers to the public, especially to the farming community.

All the water bodies and water falls in Valparai are also experiencing flash floods which has contributed to the rise in water levels of Aliyar and Sholaiyar dams.
