A two day conference of Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India (ACRSICON 2017) was organised at Gem Hospital, in the city.

Dr.Shiva K.Mishra, President of The Association of Surgeons of India inaugurated the conference, and Dr.K.Vijayakarthikeyan, City Corporation Commissioner was the special guest.
During the conference state of the art robotic operations in 3D and 4D format was telecast from Gem Hospitals to the delegates in the venue. About 15 such operations were telecast live to the delegates.
"The incidence of colon and rectal diseases has increased due to life style risk factors, and robotic and laparoscopic surgeries have become a standard and popular care worldwide", said Dr.Palanivelu, Chairman of Gem Hospitals, who organized the conference.
About 1,500 delegates took part in the conference from India and abroad.
