The protesting teachers of JACTO-GEO who have been camping and fighting for their demands in front of the Collectorate campus have been arrested en-masse by police at around 9 pm yesterday.

As the Madras High court took a stern view of the teachers' strike by JACTO-GEO as it entered the seventh day, the protesters were asked to give up their protests and returned to duty. When they refused to budge and carried on their protests, they were arrested by the police.
The protesting teachers have set up a temporary kitchen in the collectorate campus and food was prepared for the striking teachers. They were dancing and singing songs when the police surrounded them and arrested them at about 9 pm yesterday.

It may be recalled Madras High court which heard a PIL on the ongoing strike raised g some pertinent questions. Justice Kirubakaran even warned that the salary deductions would be done from teacher’s salary to compensate the affected students who are studying in government schools.
