As an act of precaution, an age-old tree which was on the verge of uprooting was axed by the fire and rescue team in the presence of Revenue Divisional Officer, Geetha priya. The traffic was halted for a brief time on the Coonoor-Mettupalayam road as the staff were engaged in evacuating the tree branches and trunks.

The cautionary action initiated by the officials was much-appreciated by the public, as Northeast monsoons might start anytime shortly in the district of Nilgris.
