Claiming the City Corporation as inefficient in carrying out sanitary and other works in the city, more than 100 cadres of the DMK party led by MLA N. Karthick of South Constituency staged a protest in Saravanampatti.
Be it water disbursement, removal of wastes from the garbage bins, or maintaining the sanitation of the city, none is been done, alleged MLA Karthick.
"When such is the case, it's inappropriate on the part of the Corporation to increase the existing tax structures", he alleged.
"While there are several wards in the city still facing untimely supply of drinking water, Why should the people of those wards be burdened with additional water taxes?" the legislator questioned.
Opining the state of the Vellalore dumpyard as "pathetic & unorganized", MLA Karthick said that tons of wastes are left in the open which has set a breeding ground for disease causing flies and mosquitos.
Pointing fingers on Minister SP Velumani, MLA Karthick said he is too busy with other works and not bothered to look into such critical issues of the city. He also apprised that DMK would plunge into serious protests if the Corporation doesn't show progress in work.
