The Madurai Bench of the Madras High court has ordered that no objection certificate (NOC) be issued by Tamilnadu Government to start Jawahar Navodaya Schools in Tamilnadu.
Hearing the PIL by Jayakumar Thomas of Kanyakumari a two judge bench of the court ruled since the Regional Director of Navofsys schools have given an undertaking in writing that Tamil would be taught in Navodaya Schools, the court said that the Government should issue NOC within 8 weeks to facilitate the opening of Navodaya schools in all the districts in Tamilnadu.
“The two language formula adopted by the State Government would not be violated by Navodaya schools and Tamil would be taught till 10th standard in these central government schools’ the judges said.
